Polymer Clay On Glass Vases

These inexpensive vases were transformed by the addition of polymer clay.

The cobalt blue and silver vases were achieved using black polymer clay with silver-colored mica powder smoothed and brushed on the raw clay prior to baking. The polymer clay was adhered to the vase with construction glue mixed with some black acrylic paint. After baking they were sealed with matte Mod Podge.

The ruby vase has irregular pieces of polymer clay which were pressed together and "distressed" using various tools. The curl of polymer clay at the upper right has aluminum screen sandwiched between thin layers of polymer clay to add strength. The clay was adhered to the glass with construction glue mixed with some acrylic paint to match the polymer clay. After baking, the piece was sealed with a few drops of antique copper acrylic paint in Mod Podge which gives it an antiqued-type look.
