Using Gourds As A Fashion Item

These gourd and suede handbags have bases that were made with a canteen gourd. (The gourd was cut in half like a bagel.) The gourd decoration is done with a wood-burning tool.

The holes in the suede for the lacing were made by piercing with a wood-burning tool also. Then the suede and gourd bases were laced together with leather lacing.

The "turquoise" embellishment is made with polymer clay.
