Obelisks In Polymer Clay

 We already had a collection of obelisks, and I decided to accept a self-challenge of creating unusual obelisks using polymer clay.

I begin by making a poster board form, then adding stableizing pre-baked sheets of polymer clay. After this the outer layer of polymer clay is added and baked.

I like the idea of adding coordinating bases which seems to give additional importance to the piece. And sometimes I've made matching keepsake boxes. On the burgundy "marble" obelisk I added a metal medalion from some old costume jewelry.
